This is a national project that gives young people with additional learning needs, and a group of Young Offenders the opportunity to access the arts, by creating original work led by experienced and inspiring artists.
Crew Creu is led by Theatr Cymru with support from Literature Wales and Urdd Gobaith Cymru. This is an opportunity for young people to own the project and be responsible for the content of the project.
The project started with the Bro Pedr Mural project in 2021, thanks to sponsorship from Western Power Distribution and Culture Step, through Celf a Busnes, Read the story here.
The project then went national with workshops in Cardiff, Aberystwyth and Bangor.
In 2022, the project was developed and four secondary schools were part of the project: Ysgol Bro Pedr, Ysgol Tryfan, Bangor, student from Ysgol Penweddig Life Skills group, Aberystwyth and Ysgol Plasmawr, Cardiff.
In 2023, we were very proud to work with groups from two schools in Carmarthenshire, Ysgol Bro Myrddin and Queen Elizabeth High School.
In 2024, we worked with a group of Young Offenders between the ages of 14 and 18 from Park Prison near Bridgend.
