• Criw Creu returned in 2023!

Criw Creu is a creative project for pupils with additional learning needs which is led by Theatr Cymru with support from Literature Wales.

In 2023, we were very proud to work with groups from two schools in Carmarthenshire, Ysgol Bro Myrddin and Queen Elizabeth High School.

The pupils from both schools - from year 7 to the sixth form - wrote a poem with guidance form author Elinor Wyn Reynolds, before enjoying a composing session with Dan Lawrence to create the music. The pupils then had the opportunity to prepare the work to display in video form at the Carmarthenshire Urdd Eisteddfod, 2023.

Criw Creu is a very special project for us. The project started with the Bro Pedr Mural in 2021, thanks to sponsorship from Western Power Distribution and Culture Step, through Celf a Busnes. Read the story here.

In 2022, the project went national with artists Casi Wyn (Welsh-language Children’s Laureate), Sioned Medi Evans, and Sian Elin (our Participation Coordinator) collaborating with pupils from 4 schools across Wales: Ysgol Bro Pedr, Ysgol Tryfan Bangor, Ysgol Penweddig, Aberystwyth’s’ Life Skills pupils and a group from Ysgol Plasmawr, Cardiff.

This was the first time that many of the pupils had the opportunity to collaborate with professional artists and performers.
