The development continues for our Autumn 2027 production – Gwenllïan – with two days of R&D work last week accompanied by a group of amazing actors.
We're so grateful to have received a grant of £125,000 from the Arts Council of Wales' Major Productions fund for this ambitious production, which will be presented in partnership with the BBC National Chorus of Wales.
Gwenllïan is a bold new Welsh-language play by Angharad Elen, which reimagines the story of the last Princess of Wales. The production will shine a spotlight on a pivotal but little-known moment in Welsh history, reclaiming Gwenllïan’s voice and placing women’s experience at the centre of the narrative. Blending historical storytelling with contemporary and surreal elements, the piece will explore themes of identity, women’s autonomy and the lasting impact of conquest.
Heading out on national tour in 2027, this co-production with the BBC National Chorus of Wales will feature a cast of 30, including 20 singers.
Keep an eye out for more information very soon...
