Calon brings young people across Wales together over Easter
Over the Easter holidays around 60 young people from across Wales came together for the first time for Calon rehearsals at Llangrannog - A Cwmni Theatr yr Urdd production in collaboration with Theatr Cymru.
Calon is a new original musical by Caryl Parry Jones and, Non Parry, developed with Elan Isaac and Miriam Isaac - which sheds new light on Caryl's classics and celebrates her most beloved songs throughout the decades. Math Roberts is the musical director, with Rhian Blythe – our Associate Director –directing the production.
Starring in the production is a talented cast of young people which includes Mali Grigg as Sil, Miri Sion as Beth, Ashton Carter Williams as Jules, Fraser Higginson as Twm, Harriet Haylock as Elinor, Glain Llwyd as Dilly, Alys Hedd Jones as Ben, Begw Rowlands as Cal and Efan Arthur Williams as Jed.
Alongside the performers, we have a live band and an excellent chorus which brings this production and Caryl’s amazing music to life.

The production is located in the mansion of Pencae'r Lonydd – where a young of youngsters gather to bring new life into to the old place. There is a chance for the group to make lifelong friends and experience their best summer ever. But the challenge they face in the final room of the mansion tests their new friendship to the limit.
