Sherman Theatre, in association with Theatr Cymru, are looking for a Welsh Language Trainee Director to work on our fun-packed Christmas show for ages 3-6.

Sherman Theatre and Theatr Cymru are committed to providing opportunities for emerging Welsh language directors from all backgrounds to develop their craft, skills and professional practice, while also expanding their industry and community networks. The Welsh Language Director scheme has been created to offer Welsh Language directors the opportunity to gain experience directing Studio level professional productions.

The Trainee Director will assistant direct our Christmas Show in 2026 for ages 3-6 with a view to direct that show in the future. The Christmas Show for ages 3-6 in 2026 will be a new version of Pinocchio by Jennifer Lunn, directed by Elan Isaac. Pinocchio (performed in Welsh and English at separate performances), is the perfect introduction to theatre for children aged 3-6. It’s a joyful new retelling, packed with music, laughter and a host of much-loved characters, brought to life by an actor-musician cast.

 

The production schedule is as follows:

Rehearsals begin: 12 Oct

Tech week at Sherman Theatre: w/c 2 Nov

First previews: 6 & 7 Nov

Tour of South Wales (no overnights): 9 – 20 Nov

First performance back at Sherman Theatre: 23 Nov

Guest performances at Sherman Theatre: 28 Nov

Final performances at Sherman Theatre: 2 Jan
