I joined Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru in January 2015 and I love working in the arts in Wales. I was born and bred in Carmarthenshire and studied for BA and MA degrees at the University of Wales Trinity St David. I love spending time with family and friends, especially my children, Osian and Mati. I enjoy travelling and good food, and obviously, going to the theatre!

I'm originally from Llanfairpwll, Anglesey, and have been directing, acting, and writing since I graduated from Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. I was Artistic Director of Invertigo Theatre Company before joining Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru, and was co-founder of the Arts Floorwork Wales during the Covid-19 pandemic. I have been a trustee of National Theatre Wales, Arts Connect, and the Creative Council of Shakespeare's Globe.

I love different forms of theatre, travelling to new places, and swimming!

I’ve been a part of the team since March 2016. I’m the Director of Producing and I’m responsible for all the productions and also the participation work, which includes working with the wider audience. My door is always open and if you have ideas or comments, I’d be very happy to hear them and to talk them through.

Before working here, I worked with BBC Cymru as part of the Pobl y Cwm Scripting team, with Tinopolis in Llanelli as a Producer and Director on programmes which included factual shows, children shows, light entertainment, animation, music and arts, and most recently I worked with various projects with the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol.

I live in Ammanford, and I’m very pleased to be a part of Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru, based in Carmarthen

Alright! I’m Caryl McQuilling, Company Production Manager.

Originally from Gellilydan near Blaenau Ffestiniog, I’m now based in Cardiff with my partner Andrew and our mischievous cat, Pws.

After graduating from the Atrium with an MA in script writing, I had the opportunity to work as an Assistant Stage Manager with Arad Goch Theatre Company, and I’ve never looked back! I worked as a freelance Stage Manger from 2014 to 2021 with theatre companies across Wales, and I’ve also been lucky to work in television as well at live music events over the past few years. Most recently, I worked as Tafwyl’s Chief Officer for Menter Caerdydd, and had the immense pleasure of organising the first live Tafwyl since before the pandemic last year.

Outside of work, I’m a powerlifter, and I’ve been lucky enough to represent Wales in national and international competitions. I enjoy weightlifting, listening to live music, and spending time with my family.

Hiya! I’m Ceri and I’m Theatr Gen's Marketing and Communications Manager.

I'm responsible for the company's marketing and communications strategy, with a focus on keeping the audience at the heart of our work and increasing awareness of the company. From day to day, my work varies - from being in the studio or on location filming or directing a photo shoot, to being at rehearsals interviewing the creative teams, to being at my desk planning, organising, writing and chatting about all of our fantastic work. 

After graduating from Cardiff University with a degree in English Literature, I worked in a variety of marketing, communications and fundraising roles at Wales Millennium Centre before joining the team at Theatr Gen in March 2019. 

I grew up in Llangennech, just outside Llanelli, and the arts have always been close to my heart. I’m happiest on the beach with my husband Steve and our children, Efa and Macsen.

Hia! I’m Elin Cain!

I’m from Bethesda, but I'm now based in London the majority of the time. I graduated in 2020 with a BA in French and Spanish from Cardiff University. Before and since graduating, I’ve worked in a variety of different jobs, including a Marketing and Project Coordinating role with a creative agency, radio presenting and community engagement.

The arts have always been a part of my life, and I’ve grown up in the theatre in Wales. When I’m not working, you’ll find me at an art gallery, singing, listening to music or going out with friends and family. I love music and usually spend my time at as many festivals as possible during the summer. I’m passionate about languages and love discovering new cultures. I enjoy travelling and spent time living Spain and France. 

I was brought up in the seaside village of Borth-y-Gest, near Porthmadog, Gwynedd, but I’m currently living in Newport, Gwent. I have always loved the theatre, and my dream as a little girl was to be a world-famous actress! One of my favourite pastimes is walking along the beach at Tenby with my husband Gary and daughters Erin and Mali. A cwtch on the sofa with the children always lifts my spirits, and chocolate, a glass of wine, and watching the film Dr Zhivago is better than any medicine when I’m not feeling well!

My real name may be Gareth Roberts, but everyone knows me as Gareth Bont.

I’m originally from Bontnewydd near Caernarfon, and I now live in Penpedairheol near Ystrad Mynach, Cwm Rhymni.

I worked as a freelance Stage and Production Manager from 2011 to 2018. For five years after, I worked as a Project Manager for Wild Creations. I may have left the theatre world in Wales for a bit, but my love for it never disappeared. I’m so glad to be back now, and I’m looking forward to working with everyone in the industry again.

I love watching sports (especially Rugby, Football and F1), listening to podcasts, and taking Ted the Cavapoo for a walk with my partner, Rhianna.

Hiya, I’m Lisa, Finance Officer for Theatr Gen.

Born and raised in Maesteg, a town in the Llynfi Valley, I'm still here raising my own family (an 11-year-old daughter and 15-year-old son) with my husband and little dog Quinn. To quote Dorothy ‘there’s no place like home!!’

Before joining Theatr Gen, I worked as an Admin and Finance Officer in the education sector.

I love to socialise, travel, keep active, all things Strictly Come Dancing and a little cocktail. Family means everything to me so I'm in my element whenever the children are willing to spend time with me! 

Hi! I'm Nerys. I grew up in Brecon but have now settled in Ammanford with my husband and 3 children.

After graduating with a BA in Fashion and Textiles Design, I worked as a lingerie designer for a number of years, before giving it up to start a family.

Since my time away to raise the children, I have worked within the world of education, law and most recently with the Urdd, so I bring a wealth of varied experience with me to this role. I am so excited to be a part of the amazing team here at Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru.

In my spare time, I appreciate the simple things in life – peace and quiet! Ha! No, that would be nice in all honesty, I really am at my happiest when hearing the children laugh. I have a slight obsession with boxes (that's the organiser in me coming out!). I love chocolate, caravanning, Llansteffan beach, and daffodils (they just make me smile!).

Hello!

I'm originally from Llandwrog near Caernarfon but now live in Cardiff with my husband Simon, and children Lewsyn and Mati.

I'm an actor by trade, and have more recently been working as a dramaturg and theatre director. 

After graduating with a degree in Acting from QMUC in Edinburgh, my first job was as one of Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru's core actors when the company was brand new. I stayed in that role for 2 years, developing my craft on Welsh stages, and it's an honour to return to the company 20 years later as Associate Director. 

I'm happiest in the rehearsal room, reading a good novel, or swimming in the sea. 

Hello! I'm Steff, the company's Assistant Producer. 

I'm originally from Rhuthun yn Denbighshire but now live in Cardiff. 

I graduated with a BA in Film and Theatre from Reading University before completing an MA in Theatre Directing at the University of Wales Trinity St David in 2020. 

Since lockdown, I've been fortunate to work as a producer with Leeway Productions and as a script editor on Pobol y Cwm, as well as working as Assistant Producer on the film Y Swn. Returning to the world of theatre is very exciting! 

Outside work, I love to read, write and go to the cinema, and I have a huge interest in history and politics. I love going for a walk, usually picking up a latte on the way! 

Jerry Hunter is a Professor in the Department of Welsh and Celtic Studies at Bangor University. An authour who has published 12 books, his work ranges from academic research to fiction. He has won the Welsh Book of the Year Award and the National Eisteddfod’s Prose Medal. He has scripted and presented three documentary series for S4C and currently he presents the popular podcast, ‘Yr Hen Iaith’, along with Richard Wyn Jones.

Because of his former position as Pro Vice-Chancellor at Bangor University, he has a great deal of experience with matters concerning management and governance. He was also the Chair of the Pontio Arts Advisory Boar and a member of the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol’s Board. During the next academic year he’ll be a member of Harvard University’s Department of Celtic Languages and Literatures, and he’s looking forward to working with Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru in a context which is international as well as thoroughly Welsh.

Nia Edwards-Behi has been immersed in Welsh film culture for over 15 years, and has experience in, and passion for, the arts and media more broadly. Nia has a doctorate from Aberystwyth University, and worked at Aberystwyth Arts Centre for a decade, and worked for a period at S4C before joining the Screen and Sound Archive of the National Library of Wales in 2023. Nia is co-director of the Abertoir Horror Festival, programmer for the Wales One World Film Festival and contributes regularly to events and publications on film. Throughout her career Nia has specialized in issues of representation, inclusion and access.

Siôn is a lawyer who originally comes from the Nantlle Valley. He studied at Aberystwyth University, graduating with a BA in Drama and Theatre, Film and Television, before going on to work in the media sector as an actor and production assistant. He has experience of working on several theatre, film and television productions in all parts of Wales. Having made a decision to change careers, Siôn returned to Bangor University to study for a LLB degree in Law, before going on to the Chester University of Law (LLM LPC). Following a period of training with a company in Manchester, he now works for the Darwin Gray company as a commercial lawyer specialising in resolving disputes and matters pertaining to property. In his spare time, he is a keen supporter of the Wales football team and enjoys skiing, golf and the arts.

Elin is a singer, actress and presenter from Cardiff. She has been interested in the arts since a young age when she attended workshops for young people at Sherman Theatre and took part in several productions with the company. Elin graduated with a BA Drama from Queen Mary University, London in 2008, before working as an assistant producer and producer for the BBC in Cardiff, where she worked on programmes like the National Eisteddfod, the Faenol and Children in Need. Elin has also run singing and drama workshops for children and young people.

At the moment, Elin is focusing on her music career and working on exciting projects. She performs across Wales at events like Tafwyl, the National Eisteddfod and Sŵn Festival, and has made a number of performances on television programmes. Elin spends her time composing, recording her own music and working as a session singer. She's also interested in video editing and has shot and edited some of her own music videos.

Earlier this year, Elin organised a special concert at the Temple of Peace to raise awareness about the human rights issues in Iran. As part of the event, Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru collaborated with Elin to perform a monologue by theatre director Sepy Baghaei. Elin also presented an S4C documentary on Iran, which was filmed in LA. 

Dafydd is the Finance Manager at Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol, and lives near Nantgaredig. After graduating with a BSc in Computer Science from Aberystwyth University, he spent the early years of his career in software development. He completed his MBA in Paris in 1995, before returning to Wales as a Management Consultant with PwC and Deloitte. Since then, he's spent most of his time in the Higher Education sector, as Senior Lecturer, Director of Entrepreneurship and Finance Director. He qualified as an accountant in 2007 (FCCA).

His interest in theatre goes back to 1985, when he had the opportunity to be part of the technical team for the Urdd's Youth Theatre production Rhyfel a Heddwch. He also spent four years as the Head of Finance at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff. 

Originally from Bala, Elwyn contributed to the local drama scene before studying Drama at Trinity College, Carmarthen. Later, he settled in Aberystwyth where he worked for Urdd Gobaith Cymru as the Eisteddfod organiser before joining the public relations company, Stratamatrix; he was with the company for 14 years and was promoted to Director. Elwyn joined the Welsh Books Council Marketing Department in 1997, and following a period as the Head of Administration and Public Relations, he was Chief Executive of the organisation from 2009 to 2017.

Gwyn was brought up on a farm in Tregaron, Ceredigion. Educated at Ysgol Gynradd Penuwch and Ysgol Uwchradd Tregaron, he graduated with a BSc in Mathematics and Computer Studies at the University of Wales, Cardiff.

He started working with Dyfed County Council in 1976 as a Trainee Accountant. In 1979 he was appointed Internal Auditor with Ceredigion District Council in Aberystwyth, and in 1996 he was promoted to the post of Chief Internal Auditor.

When Local Government was restructured in 1996, he was appointed Chief Internal Auditor to Ceredigion County Council, and promoted to the post of Ceredigion Director of Finance in 2002. In 2013, as part of the County Council’s internal restructuring, he was appointed Strategic Director – Corporate Resources, a post he held until his retirement in 2015. Between 2001 and 2015 he was also Honorary Treasurer to the Welsh Books Council.

In the past, his main interests were playing rugby and an occasional round of golf, but nowadays he enjoys playing bowls in Aberaeron, cycling, walking, and enjoying the company of his grandchildren.

Fiona was brought up in west Wales, in a community which is a hive of Welsh-language arts activities. She studied for a LLB degree in Law and Welsh, together with the diploma course in legal practice (LPC), at Cardiff University. Having trained and qualified with the legal company Morgan LaRoche, Fiona now specialises in corporate law and work pertaining to businesses. As this year’s chair of Penybont Young Farmers Club, Carmarthenshire, and one of the leaders of Aelwyd Hafodwenog, Fiona delights in being at the centre of the social life of her community. As she had studied for her degree through the medium of Welsh, Fiona was made a member of the Gorsedd of Bards at the Cardiff National Eisteddfod.

Catherine Rees is Senior Manager for Corporate Affairs and Human Resources with Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol. Her fields of expertise are Human Resources and Governance, and in 2017 she won the Wales Human Resources Award for the best use of the Welsh language in the field of Human Resources.

Catherine was brought up in Pwll, a village near Llanelli, and graduated in Welsh from Bangor University. Following periods working as a Careers Officer in Newport, and as a producer of radio programmes with BBC Radio Cymru in Swansea, Catherine and her family emigrated to live in the Netherlands, and later the USA. Having returned to Wales, she started working for Menter a Busnes, the economic development company, as a researcher, project manager, director, and eventually as Deputy Chief Executive, focusing in particular on Human Resources and project management. She has worked with several companies and organisations to help them in developing their business and was a member of the Welsh Language Board until 2012. She now lives in Carmarthen, but retains a foothold in Llanelli.

Having been brought up in the Carmarthenshire village of Alma, Rhys now lives in Barry in the Vale of Glamorgan. Rhys has worked in the creative field for over twenty years – as an actor, dancer, choreographer, author in both Welsh and English, and director. With his company GlassShot, Rhys has produced, directed and toured Welsh and English plays throughout Wales. Previously, Rhys was Head of the Digital Department for the training company, Cyfle. He specialises in the digital field – particularly in transmedia work, which entails telling a story across different platforms – and he has been a guest speaker at a number of international conferences. He takes a particular interest in the way in which disabled people and characteristics are represented in ‘mainstream’ works for theatre.

Gwyn Williams is a freelance communications consultant and coach. After working at Canolfan Iaith Nant Gwrtheyrn for a year, Gwyn began his media career working for BBC Radio Cymru in Bangor. He subsequently worked for Newyddion 7 and Hel Straeon before setting up his own production company. He was one of the founders of Cwmni Da, and then chief executive of tv facilities company Barcud in Caernarfon.  He was Director of Communications with the Welsh Language Commissioner and then Director of Communications / Director of Corporate Communications with S4C until 2022.

Meilir Rhys Williams is an actor from Llanuwchllyn. He was educated at Ysgol Gynradd O. M. Edwards, Llanuwchllyn, and Ysgol Uwchradd y Berwyn, Y Bala. He decided to follow a career as an actor after attending a summer course arranged by National Youth Theatre Wales in 2006. He studied for a diploma in Performance Studies at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts in 2007, before graduating from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in 2010 with a BA in Acting.

Since graduating, Meilir has performed with several theatre companies in Wales and beyond, including with Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru in ‘Y Storm’ and ‘Deffro’r Gwanwyn’. He has also appeared on television in various programmes, and he can now be seen regularly in the popular television series ‘Rownd a Rownd’, playing the part of Rhys.
