After winning the Drama Medal at the Eisteddfod yr Urdd 2022, we had the pleasure of welcoming Osian Davies as our Young Resident Playwright for the year.
Originally hailing from Llanfairpwll but now based in Cardiff, Osian works as a translator. He loves writing in his spare time, whenever he gets the chance. This is his first attempt at script writing, and it is his first piece of work to be submitted to the Drama Medal competition.
The winning play deals with themes of male mental health and takes place over one scene. The protagonists of Osian’s play are two teenage friends sharing a pint over a conversation.
He is the second ever Young Resident Playwright to be welcomed into the role, following in Rhiannon Williams’ footsteps.
Some months have now passed since he started with us, so we decided to catch up with Osian over a coffee to discuss the play, his role, and what he hopes to achieve from this experience. We were also lucky to hear from Theatr Gen’s previous Young Resident Playwright, Rhiannon Williams, who chatted to us about how this experience has helped shape her career.
