Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru is delighted to support an opportunity to enable the freelance workforce in the performing arts to gain confidence to work through the medium of Welsh.
We want to support freelance artists and theatre-workers to help them gain confidence when using Welsh in the workplace, to enable them to engage with Welsh-language theatre. By working with the National Centre for Learning Welsh and the Welsh Language and Heritage Centre at Nant Gwrtheyrn – with the support of the Arts Council of Wales – we are able to offer support for freelance workers in the performing arts.
There will be places for up to 12 freelance workers in the sector on the on-line ‘Using’ Work Welsh course run by the National Centre for Learning Welsh, which is provided virtually by Nant Gwrtheyrn between January and March 2021. We hope to hold a specific course for freelance workers in the performing arts sector.
This opportunity is open to anyone who is working – or who wishes to work – in a freelance capacity in the theatre in Wales through the medium of Welsh, and would like to gain confidence in using the language in a professional capacity.
This course is fully funded, and you will be expected to attend 6 days of on-line training between 10am and 4pm (on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays) during a specified two-week period. You will be paid £900 as a financial contribution for your time in attending the course. Declarations of interest are also welcomed from anyone who would like to attend general Work Welsh courses, without receiving a contribution.
You can declare an interest by sending the application form (together with the equality monitoring form) to Nia, our Producer, on email@example.com by 5.30pm on Thursday 3 December 2020. We will be co-ordinating declarations of interest from the performing arts sector. The availability of the course, which has been specially tailored for the performing arts sector, is dependent on numbers.
We are keen to ensure that the sessions are accessible to all, and that will mean different arrangements for different individuals. You’re welcome to contact us to discuss your requirements.
If you have any questions about the course, please contact Rhodri Ll. Evans, Education Manager at Nant Gwrtheyrn, on firstname.lastname@example.org.
Supported by the Arts Council of Wales.
*The aim of Work Welsh is to strengthen Welsh-language skills in the workplace by offering options to learn, improve and use Welsh in a work context. This course, which is offered free of charge, is financed by the Welsh Government and was developed by the National Centre for Learning Welsh.
