On Tuesday 14 February, for the first time ever, Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru screened a pioneering live broadcast of their latest production – Macbeth – from the spectacular Caerphilly Castle, to venues across Wales.
The live broadcast was rapturously received, and several venues were sold out. To those who missed the production at the castle, or were unable to attend the live broadcast, there will be a second opportunity to see the Scottish play from the comfort of your local cinema, until the end of April. All repeat screenings will feature English subtitles.
Broadcasting live and showing repeat screenings of the company’s performances is part of Theatr Gen Byw – a new venture which allows Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru productions to be viewed on the big screen. Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru has collaborated with Injan on this exciting project.
Arwel Gruffydd, Artistic Director of Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru, said of the repeat screenings:
“Not everyone was able to come along to Caerphilly Castle, but by broadcasting live and showing repeat screenings, we will be taking the castle to every part of Wales, bringing this site-specific production of Macbeth to audiences at various venues across the country.”
