Pan Oedd y Byd yn Fach

cast announcement

ActorionPOBF2

Today (30 March 2015) Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru are pleased to announce the next production’s cast, Pan Oedd y Byd yn Fach, a new play by Siân Summers directed by Aled Pedrick.

Sion Ifan will return to the company following the recent tour of Y Fenyw Ddaeth o’r Môr, and joining him will be Dyfed Cynan, Ceri Murphy and Berwyn Pearce – all three have worked for the company in the past.  Completing the cast will be Gareth Pierce who will be joining the company for the first time.

The play will open on the 14th of May 2015 at Gwyn Hall, Neath before going on tour during May and June.

The play is set during the winter of 1984 during the Miners strike, when money is tight and tensions are high.
In a quiet spot far from the fury of the picket line, a group of boys get together early one morning to show their support. But not everyone is welcome, and one violent and shocking act is about to change their lives forever.
Aled Pedrick, Director said;
“I’m really pleased today to be able to announce the cast for this play.  We have a really talented cast and I can’t wait to start rehearsals.  This is a story that is close to my heart, as someone who was brought up in Swansea Valley where this story is set and being a miner’s son.  I was born when the strike ended and I’m very aware of how that time affected my community.  Siân has written a wonderful script and it’s a privilege to be working with the cast and creative team on this production.”

The creative team will include: Cordelia Ashwell (Designer), Tim Lutkin (Lighting Designer), Tom Recknell (Composer), Dyfan Jones (Sound Designer), Polly Bennett (Movement Director), Nia Lynn (Voice Coach) a Kevin McCurdy (Fight Director).
