Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru announces its 2018 programme

Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru is delighted to announce its programme for the coming season, and to introduce a new venture, Theatr Gen Creu.

As the NHS celebrates its 70th birthday in 2018, Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru will be exploring the theme of Care and Community throughout the year, and touring two new productions across Wales. The first of these will be Y Tad, a new translation by Geraint Løvgreen of the award-winning French play, Le Père (The Father), which will be touring in February and March. In November and December, the company will present Nyrsys on tour – a new and powerful verbatim play by Bethan Marlow, that includes several original songs by Rhys Taylor. Continue Reading…

Dyfan Roberts to play the lead role in Y Tad (The Father), Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru’s next production

Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru is delighted to announce that Dyfan Roberts will be playing the role of Y Tad (The Father) in their next production of the same name, during February and March 2018. Dyfan is one of our most experienced stage actors, and a very familiar name to Welsh-speaking audiences. His recent work includes: Pum Cynnig i Gymro (Theatr Bara Caws) (Nominated for the Best Actor Award – Welsh Language, Wales Theatre Awards 2016) and Merch yr Eog (Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru). Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru is delighted to announce that Y Tad will be the company’s next production, to be staged in February and March 2018. Y Tad is a new Welsh adaptation by Geraint Løvgreen of Le Père by Florian Zeller, and the work won the National Eisteddfod of Wales, 2016 competition for Translating a Play into Welsh.
