On Saturday 30 September 2017, a one-day course was held at Tŷ Newydd Writing Centre – a Workshop on Writing a Verbatim Script – led by tutors Manon Wyn Williams, the author of the script Hollti, and Sarah Bickerton, Associate Director of Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru who directed the production.

Ten people attended the course to learn how to go about scripting a verbatim play, namely a play based on the exact words spoken by various characters. Among the prospective scriptwriters were Eddie Ladd, Gareth Owen, Rebecca Phasey, Esyllt Maelor, Carys Huw, Meleri Llŷr Williams, Sara Dafydd, Anita Myfanwy, Mared Llywelyn and Caryl McQuilling.

The course was arranged through a partnership between Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru and Tŷ Newydd Creative Writing Centre, who are collaborating on a scheme to develop new scriptwriters for the stage.
