We are extending a very warm welcome to you to join us as we rehearse and prepare for the opening of our spring show, Estron, at the Miners’ Theatre, Ammanford, before it embarks on a national tour throughout Wales.
As part of the celebrations to note that Ammanford is Carmarthenshire Town of Culture 2018, we are opening the door on our rehearsals so that you can have a glimpse behind the scenes on the work of a professional Welsh theatre company. You will also have an opportunity to meet the director, Janet Aethwy; the author, Hefin Robinson; the cast, Gareth Elis and Ceri Elen; and the backstage team who are responsible for the lighting, the set, the costumes and the sound. Estron was performed for the first time ever at the Anglesey National Eisteddfod 2017, resulting in an excellent response from reviewer Lowri Cooke, who said that the play was “one that must be experienced”.
If you are interested in attending a rehearsal, having a guided tour of the set, or meeting the author, the director or one of the actors, between 3 April and 20 April, please get in touch by phoning 01267 245622 and asking for Nesta, or email email@example.com
This is a great opportunity to get a taste of the play Estron, and for the community of Ammanford and Carmarthenshire – social clubs, school pupils and students – to gain a valuable insight into our work and hopefully to inspire you to come to the theatre. There are several links between this production and Carmarthenshire: the author, Hefin and the actor, Gareth, are from Carmarthen; the director, Janet, lives in Llandeilo, and the producer, Rhian, lives in Ammanford. In addition, of course, Carmarthen is home to Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru’s headquarters.
In cooperation with the National Eisteddfod of Wales and Carmarthenshire Theatres, performances of Estron will be given at the following venues in Carmarthenshire: the Miners’ Theatre, Ammanford, on Thursday evening 19 April and Friday evening 20 April, and Stiwdio Stepni, Llanelli, on Saturday evening 12 May. Please note that Sibrwd – the app that provides a live translation for non-Welsh speakers – will be available at all performances on the tour. Estron will be touring Wales until 20 May.
We look forward to hearing from you, to celebrating Ammanford as Carmarthenshire Town of Culture 2018, and to arranging a visit at a time that’s convenient for you.
