All the drama clubs held by us in association with our partners will be starting again this month with a number of exciting activities planned for the new term.
We are delighted to announce that our popular drama clubs will be returning for a new term of activities, and this time they will be joined by a brand-new club. Clwb Cica’r Ffin (in partnership with Menter Iaith Sir Benfro and Cered), Clwb Drama Caerfyrddin (in partnership with Menter Gorllewin Sir Gâr), and Ysgol Berfformio Felinfach (in partnership with Theatr Felinfach) will all be returning for a new series of exciting sessions. In addition, Criw Cefn Llwyfan (The Back-stage Crew) in partnership with Menter Gorllewin Sir Gâr, will return in a new guise to provide pupils from secondary schools in the area with back-stage skills – we will be offering experience in the fields of lighting, sound, stage management, set and costumes, to name but a few.
In addition to the clubs named above, we have created a new partnership with Menter Iaith Abertawe to hold a brand-new Drama Club in the county: Clwb Drama Abertawe. This new, exciting partnership offers an opportunity for Menter Iaith Abertawe and us to hold drama activities full of fun and games for children in Swansea. We look forward immensely to seeing this partnership flourish so that we can offer the new club a variety of creative opportunities.
Llinos Jones, our Participation Officer, is delighted to see the company’s participation work going from strength to strength:
“Our drama clubs give us an opportunity to work with our partners to create an extended provision of participation work in our local communities. Clwb Drama Abertawe, in partnership with Menter Iaith Abertawe, will offer a number of special opportunities for the young people of the county, and will give us an opportunity to offer them creative experiences in the field of drama. The sessions will include building confidence, experience of writing scripts, characterisation and movement, creating sets and experimenting. I’m really looking forward to seeing the club developing over the next few weeks.”
Last year, our clubs’ highlights included a number of displays, opportunities to collaborate, and special performances. One particular highlight was the project Dwy Stori, Un Llwyfan (part of Age Cymru’s Spring Festival) in which Clwb Drama Caerfyrddin (in partnership with Menter Gorllewin Sir Gâr) worked with the residents of Cartref Cynnes, Carmarthen, to showcase the work of the creative sessions that had been held between the two generations. This was a unique scheme that gave the members of Clwb Drama Caerfyrddin an opportunity to develop self-confidence and to work creatively with the older generation. Video documentation of this work is available to watch here.
Details of all the drama clubs can be seen below. If you would like to discuss the clubs with us in Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru, you’re welcome to contact us by emailing email@example.com or phoning
